I'm a London-based freelance journalist and arts writer, with extensive experience in both national and local newsrooms. My writing appears in print and online for publications including The Independent, The Guardian, IdeasTap and Archant's network of London lifestyle magazines.
Arts have been the mainstay of my journalism for a decade. As arts reporter for Newsquest South London, I wrote about culture for 10 newspapers across south London from 2005-8. Since going freelance, I've ventured north of the river and beyond, particularly into theatreland. I contribute news, reviews and interviews as a What's On Stage contributing editor and cover the Edinburgh Festival Fringe each summer.
In 2011, I launched the Culture Professionals Network, the Guardian's new hub for the arts industry and cultural sector. I also write about careers and education for The Guardian, where I'm a regular face on the night production desk. Since 2008, I've been a governor at Norwood School, a visual and performing arts school in Lambeth and my portfolio also includes copywriting for the arts, tourism and public sectors.
I trained in journalism at London College of Communication after an English & Latin BA and Classical Heritage MA from the University of Bristol. I'm also a bit of a Francophile after a stint at the Sorbonne.
